Drive in pics

Well, they didn't actually watch the movie from the well in the back of the Odyssey, it was a good place to stash them all because of all the cars going by because it was unbelievably packed. And they had a blast!

Sky zone

Well, twice last week we wound up going where everyone else was! Thursday we went to sky zone because it was a rainy day and we were meeting up with friends. So that was highly crowded.

And Friday we went to the drive-in. Which was super finally took a neighbor and we went with other neighbors. But we didn't realize it was the first night for the movie minions. And the other movie was inside out. We had a great time! Despite barely being able to see the screen and being parked in the roadway. And we got home at 1:30! It was a late night. But everything we've heard and read about inside out was true. It is a great movie! We need to see it again or buy it. There's a birthday idea if anyone is interested… Although it might not be out by August I suppose.

Rafting

This is me, Dan & Claudia (best friend from high school).

Washington DC

We expected to spend a short time moseying around to show Kat the monuments that she'd already learned about. Traffic was awful. Weather was awful. Parking was terrible. Kat pitched a fit.

We finally found a spot and put on our new (we hit REI) rain gear and headed out. She was still carrying on when we were checking out the White House. but, once she saw how much water there was, the rivers running down the streets, the enormous puddles, she moved on. We got drenched. Repeatedly. And had a blast! We (wearing my sandals, I was all over it too) did some serious puddle jumping. We watched a river run down the Washington monument. I tried to explain to Kat about war. Good wars vs bad wars....

Anyway we really did have a blast playing in the rain and visiting some of our nation's greatest monuments.

Catching

Not a lot happens in this vid, but you can see her great catching form. She got hit in the foot, fingers, I think both shoulders. But she was a trooper and roughed it out. And, more importantly, bedtime didn't go on and on with her litany of injuries/complaints!! She went peacefully.

Her last competition was last weekend. She took 3rd in figures and her group competition took 1st out of 3. Medals-not ribbons for 1-3rd places!!!

We had a 5k at school yesterday. It was a beautiful sunny day and we did it in 38 minutes! Not a great time, but we ran a lot more than I expected! Probably about half? Katie did great and we all stayed together. It was a great time. I'm still feeling it in my legs....

Easter egg massacre

Well, I knew better than to leave out the filled Easter eggs. But I did. And while we are at tae kwon do, Gromit took it upon himself to empty all of the candy out! Without breaking one egg!!

Fortunately only a minority of the eggs had candy, just a few dozen peeps and some chocolate eggs. But, the little jerk was clearly on the table selecting his prey out of the basket.

This dog is too friggin smart. I hope that Roxy at least got some of the candy. But I doubt it.

She's still smiling. And having a blast in her lessons. Despite today being colder & snowier, she had fun. Tomorrow.... Well, at 9am it's supposed to be about -5 degrees & feel like -20. At noon up to 5 & feeling like -11. I think there will be many breaks tomorrow. We could instead ski Saturday, but I'm not sure how much better that will be!

For those of you wondering, some parts of Buffalo are getting hammered with snow. We are not in that part! In fact my boss couldn't believe I wasn't coming to work today. Our schools are closed, all schools are closed pretty much. We are hopeful that John Oliver is able to get into Buffalo for his talk tonight at UB. As a whole group of us have been planning for months to go see John Oliver! We will see. And allegedly the snow is supposed to move north today. I don't know…

I love slo-mo! Well on this holiday, we got a lot done! We being mostly me. We did some raking and some dumb thing of leaves and detritus in the woods. I got some more carpet ripped up from the basement drag to the curb. I got the Graja mostly cleaned out made room for my car if necessary. Which it will be soon...

Mountain biking adventure

On a beautiful fall day today, we took Kat on a mountain biking adventure. We did the cross country run which is pretty easy. Though we had to walk uphill a couple of times. Or she did, several times. But it was really, really fun. And she only got really upset and kicked her bike one time! It's so hard not to laugh when she's that upset and kicking an inanimate object. Not that I want her to kick an animate object (nor has she)...

After being home sick for three days with a fever, we got out to the playground today so the kids could at least run around a little bit.

She's going back to school tomorrow.! I'm not even taking her temperature! I'm sure most people don't actually keep the kids home for the full 24 hours without medication/no fever thing, and I'm not sure we will make it either but anyway… We can't wait till school starts tomorrow!!!
