Damn cat (not damn Kat, not usually)

I know the pic is blurry, but if you look closely, under the ANTENNAE (who has an antennae?), ON the chimney of our next door NEIGHBOR'S roof, is our cat Emma. She actually seemed really interested in getting down their chimney. And last night, I found her playing inside the fireplace chimney in our bedroom. Who knows what the voices are telling her.

I really, really want to know why we can't have normal pets. As far as I know the neighbors didn't know she was up there. This is the first time that I've seen it....so probably not the first time it's happened. Soon after moving in, I met the neighbor behind us when she came over to tell me my dog (Boo) was in her yard (by the time she got the the door, he had climbed back, come in the house and acted like he had no idea what she was talking about).

Emma thinking about jumping down (it's a ranch and we're in a two story with a front porch, which is how I was able to see her to begin with).

Lunch with Heidi's co-workers today. Mechelle is back from Dubai. Notice whose hand is in Mike's rice.

The other Mike bounces her and she LOVES it. Though today she was mostly being nonchalant about it, but occasionally the smile crept across her face.

Chelsey & Mechelle.

From last week: Eli in the bouncer (not bouncing) and Kat on her new horsey. As far as I know it doesn't have a name yet. But it might.

Dan holding Eli, who doesn't seem as fragile as I thought he'd be.

Kat, still playing with the balloon from last week's party. It has been a great toy.

Eli, quietly serving his sentence.

Kat was always so compassionate about Eli's plight and she loved to touch him.

Check out her hand reaching though the wall of baby prison to touch him.

It seems the posts get longer (more pics) and less frequent. Sorry. We should have some pics to post from the weekend. Dan is eager to get to Mt St Helen's NP and Kat has hardly spent time in the car seat lately (she's been very sad to discover just how boring we are after all of her visitors have gone), and we're going to a baseball game.

Dan's work's welcome Kat party

Dan's co-workers threw a Welcome Kat/First Birthday party for her tonight, complete with homemade ice cream cake. It was wonderful. Liza and Eli attended with us, and Eli slept through almost the entire thing. Kat was "on" entertaining her audience the whole time. She passed out in the car.

Some of these pics are blurry, which I'm not really happy about. Maybe time for a new camera? My apologies to anyone whose face is blurry. It seemed that there were few pictures that have no blurry faces. I'm sure it can't be operator error.....

Allie and Kat, who had a great time playing with the cup and the straw.

Allie (the spectacular party organizer) showing Kat the giant pink pony that Luda brought her. THANKS LUDA!! She will love that horsie for decades.

Darin's girls, Lulu and Madeline playing with Kat and the balloon, which was a huge hit!

At home this afternoon- Liza was taking pictures of Kat in her room and Ben was camped out at the door watching (no one was sure why, but it was really cute).

More pics of Grandma & Grandpa's Visit and meeting cousin Eli

We really fought today's nap.....losing eventually, but not without a struggle.

Grandma & Grandpa left last night and Kat's Aunt Liza and 6 week old cousin Eli arrived late afternoon yesterday. All are a lot of fun in Kat's book.

On the ferry to Friday Harbor. It was 95 degrees out, but not in the car or on the ferry. We walked on and rode over and right back. We didn't see one whale or other sea critter.

Giving Grandma a hug on the ferry.

Hanging in the shade.

Looking for wind on the deck of the ferry.

Found it!!!!

In the terminal, waiting for the ferry.

Just dragging the baby (which, as you may guess, she LOVES)

Mt Rainier.

We rode the Mt Rainier Scenic Railway- a steam locomotive. Very cool.

A very belated Father's Day present, we got Dad a ticket in the cab. He didn't get a seat and had to stand on his bad knee(s) the whole time, trying to avoid bumping the boiler for obvious reasons. It's also apparently pretty warm up there. He loved it!

On the ferry to Friday Harbor.

It's really too bad that this kid will have no photos from her childhood to look back on when she's older.

A cool pic dad took of a float plane and the clouds

We rode the ducks yesterday- it was windy, guess who loved it?

More pics with Grandma and Grandpa

Grandpa decided to check out baby prison with Kat. She's working on her standing.

Kat on the train that we rode today, from Snoqualmie Falls to North Bend.

In her little white dress on her first birthday!

Kat's birthday cake (the order may be skewed....) The first bite of her ice cream cake.

Progress?

Getting closer to bath time......

She was never entirely sure that she liked the ice cream cake. We did.

Under the Freemont Bridge.

The Freemont Troll, Lester, Sue & Kat

Her very first birthday cake.

Opening presents (or watching them be opened and playing with the wrapping paper)

The dogs lay outside on the patio and Ben brings douglas fir pieces into the house. And Kat picks them up and tries to eat them.

Lester helping Kat walk while waiting for the Space Needle elevator

Up on the observation deck of the needle.

Kat's new friend at the space needle gift shop- this doggie doesn't run away from her.

Another Freemont troll picture

Lester and Sue left this AM. We are off to Mt. Rainier tomorrow, hopefully to take a steam engine ride and check out the mountain. It is supposed to be 95 degrees tomorrow.
